Endodontics can be challenging, especially when treating chronic periapical lesions. This lecture focusses at the use of non-setting calcium hydroxide as a temporary treatment approach. Presenting two clinical cases of persistent periapical lesions that were treated with calcium hydroxide for six months. Interestingly, significant healing occurred in all cases. Long-term calcium hydroxide treatment appears to be a realistic, effective approach for treating chronic periapical lesions, providing a ray of hope in the grey areas of endodontic care.
